Making risky, complex decisions affecting the success of a company are part of every R&D leader's day, whether it be in the life sciences or any other industry. As R&D portfolios grow in size, they also grow in complexity, cost, and scientific or engineering difficulty. Executives facing tough decisions are often armed only with their own experience and intelligence and an army of advisors with conflicting objectives.
In this audio conference, our speakers propose a method of decision-making which helps the leader take key conflicting objectives into account consistently, while bringing clarity and transparency to the risk-cost-reward tradeoff discussion. The presentation draws upon a real-life examples from the new product development arena within the pharmaceutical industry. By focusing on achieving the core objectives of the company, leadership can identify the top projects and focus their scarce resources, thereby obtaining the largest value for their R&D efforts.
Over 50,000 attendees across hundreds of companies have taken advantage of our easy-to-use audio conferences to stay abreast of a fast-changing business environment. We specialize in Life Science conferences, along with topics relevant for HR, Marketing, Legal, and Finance professionals. Overcoming Challenges in Clinical Cold Chain Transport
Global transport of temperature-sensitive investigational drugs and clinical materials presents a tremendous challenge for pharmaceutical and biotech companies. There are many factors to consider in order to ensure that product integrity remains intact. Successful delivery of investigational drugs from origin to patient is becoming more complicated, especially with increased scrutiny placed on in-transit temperature control and monitoring. As cold chain shipment excursions face increased scrutiny from regulators around the world, it is more important than ever to get it right the first time.
In this audio conference, the speakers review the areas that need to be considered by the clinical development community in order to maximize the performance of their cold chain R&D investments.
Overcoming Challenges in Clinical Cold Chain Transport is being presented by Anthony Leone & Les Sparrow, International Customer Service Manager, Quality Assurance & Technical Support Manager, with World Courier, Inc. and airs on Tuesday, May 12, 2009. Essential Leadership Skills to Turbocharge R&D Teams
Pharmaceutical/biotechnology R&D is a complex, multi-functional and highly integrated discipline. Sound leadership practices are central to developing highly committed teams that will efficiently produce quality information in a timely fashion. Teams committed to exceptional service and performance result in faster application submission and approval, enhanced creativity that generates new product concepts, increased profitability by producing efficiencies that reduce cost, and enhanced investor confidence.
In this audio conference we explore the basis of achieving exceptional performance; how commitment is obtained; a review of essential leadership and communication skills; personal leadership practices; consideration of team structure; the development of a service culture and how it can be leveraged to produce efficiencies, reduce cost and enhance creativity; and understanding the customer, both internal and external.

Pharma 2010: The Threshold of Innovation
While some analysts predict the pharmaceutical industry will grow by 9% by the year 2010, IBM Business Consulting Services is anticipating a much lower rate of 5.3%. However, in Pharma 2010: The Threshold of Innovation, IBM predicts that a new business model based on Targeted Treatment Solutions has the potential to achieve breakthrough growth. The authors propose that this new business model is needed to meet the challenge of governments and insurers who are no longer willing or able to pay high prices for "me too" medicines.
This presentation provides an in-depth overview of the "Pharma 2010" strategies that will lead to a more adaptive and flexible way of conducting business and treating patients.
Pharma 2010: The Threshold of Innovation was presented by Sam Barnett, Lead Partner, Life Sciences & Pharma of IBM Business Consulting Services and aired on 2004-06-29 and is available for download at www.fxconferences.com
